This Privacy Policy explains how Four Eighth Notes LLC ("Four Eighth Notes," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit foureighthnotes.com (the "Site") or use our software, Cadence (the "Software"). We keep data collection to a minimum, and this policy describes exactly what that means.

In short: our Software runs entirely on your computer and collects nothing, and our website has no analytics or tracking. We receive the details you send through the contact form, and — when you buy Cadence — the email needed to send you your license key. We only send marketing emails if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you submit our contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message content you provide, so we can respond to your inquiry. You choose what to include in your message.

When you buy Cadence

Purchases are processed by our reseller, Paddle (see below). To deliver your purchase, Paddle shares your email address (and name, if provided) with us so we can generate and send your license key. If you choose to opt in to marketing at checkout, Paddle also shares that preference with us — see Marketing communications below. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs limited technical information (such as your IP address, browser type, and pages requested) to deliver the Site securely and reliably. We do not use website analytics, advertising trackers, or cookies for tracking.

The Cadence Software

The Software operates entirely offline on your device. It does not connect to us, "phone home," collect usage data or telemetry, or require online activation. We receive no information from your use of the Software.

Third-party services we rely on

We use a small number of third parties to operate the Site and sell the Software. These providers process data on our behalf or as independent controllers under their own privacy policies:

Cloudflare — hosts and delivers the Site and processes technical/security logs.
Web3Forms — processes contact-form submissions and relays them to us by email.
Google Fonts — serves the fonts used on the Site; Google may receive your IP address when fonts load.
Paddle — our authorized reseller and merchant of record for purchases of Cadence. They handle checkout, payment, billing, and tax, and collect the payment and contact information you provide at purchase under their own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your full payment details.
Resend — our email provider; delivers your license key after purchase and, if you opt in, our marketing emails.

How we use information

To respond to your questions and support requests.
To operate, secure, and maintain the Site.
To fulfill and support purchases, including generating and emailing your license key.
To send marketing emails about updates, new products, and occasional offers — only if you opt in.
To comply with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share information only with the service providers listed above as needed to operate, or when required by law.

Marketing communications

If you opt in — for example, by checking the marketing box at checkout, or otherwise asking to hear from us — we may email you about updates to Cadence, new products we release, and occasional offers. We send these through our email provider, Resend, and record your consent through Paddle at the point of purchase.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, or by emailing [email protected]. Unsubscribing from marketing does not affect transactional messages you still need, such as your license key or a reply to a support request. We keep you on the marketing list only until you unsubscribe.

Data retention

We keep contact-form correspondence only as long as needed to address your inquiry and for our reasonable records. We retain records of your purchase and license for our business and legal needs, and marketing-list details until you unsubscribe. Our providers retain data according to their own policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, email us at [email protected] and we will respond as required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

International visitors

We are based in the United States, and the Site is operated from there. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.

Children's privacy

The Site and Software are not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
